Isle of Grain pipeline
National Grid constructed a pipeline from the Isle of Grain to Shorne to ensure that natural gas could be transported from the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) importation terminal at the Isle of Grain to help meet the growing demand for gas supplies in London and the South of England.

Inscapes carried out environmental work in conjunction with the Isle of Grain to Shorne pipeline. The turf was lifted to a depth of 300mm along the pipeline and trans-location of this turf was carried out.

Inscapes staff then relocated the turf once the pipeline had been completed, ensuring that the land was reinstated to its original condition.
Certain areas on the pipeline route were classed as “special sites of scientific interest”and Inscapes staff therefore worked with experts with a special understanding of these unique habitats and how they function to make sure the land was reinstated to its original condition.
