The annual restoration of the lawns at Cardiff City Hall is almost complete - a mere four days after we started work on what can only accurately be described as the mud bath left over after the Winter Wonderland event.

The weather played its part but so too did proper planning, great teamwork, the right equipment and years of experience in working on this and other similar projects.

If it’s January it must be Cardiff!

One project that we have been closely involved with over the years is the annual clear up at Cardiff City Hall after the Winter Wonderland event held there each Christmas holiday. Everyone has a huge amount of fun at the event but it really takes its toll on the lawns which, for the rest of the year, are an immaculate showcase for Cardiff’s civic pride.

In past years we’ve worked steadily to improve the overall drainage of the site and the benefits of that effort are starting to show. This year we are scraping the surface to remove all the organic matter and then mixing in sand to the soil before laying the turf. As our pictures show there’s a lot to be done but if the weather is kind to us (which would make a change on recent performance!) the work should be completed shortly.
