Back at The Manor

We are back working at the Celtic Manor where it has now been confirmed that the Wales Open 2012 will be played on this year’s Ryder Cup Course. Given the conditions under which the Ryder Cup was played the course stood up really well – there isn’t a course in the world that could have coped better with those weather conditions.
If you don’t believe us then just remember the words of Colin Montgomerie on the subject who, during his victory speech, congratulated Sir Terry Matthews and his fantastic staff at the Celtic Manor Resort. In particular he gave a vote of thanks to Jim McKenzie and his team of 110 greenkeepers (one of whom was our very own Tony Horne) who made play possible.
The damage caused to the course during play was one thing, the further damage caused by the dismantling of the spectator stands and media facilities is of a greater order altogether. As you can see, there is a great deal to do! Our sales director James Rees was interviewed this week about the work we’re doing on the course by Sky Sports. What’s that they say about everyone being famous for 15 minutes?
