Equestrian event at the Millennium Stadium

Saturday, 29th November was a memorable day for welsh rugby fans as Wales beat Australia at the Millennium stadium 21 : 18!

Once the fans had left the stadium to continue celebrating the outcome of this exciting match, Inscapes staff were waiting to set to work to help prepare the pitch in readiness for the equestrian event which was taking place at this famous venue the very next day.  Work consisted of removing some turf modules to allow the water jumps to be created, helping set up jumps and spreading sand in areas within the stadium for the competitors and their horses to warm up.

The  ”Express Eventing International Cup” was the first equestrian event that the stadium has held and team GB’s Mary King and William Fox-Pitt were amongst the world class riders to compete at the stadium on Sunday 30th November.  Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Jodi Kidd also entertained the crowd by competing in a celebrity jump-off.  This event condensed all the skills and excitement of traditional eventing into just half a day under the roof of the stadium.

When this great equestrian event was over and the crowds had gone home, Inscapes returned to the stadium late on Sunday afternoon and helped to remove the jumps and sand.  Over the next day staff then korrowed off the area in readiness for the modules to be removed.

Photos of this work will be posted on the website shortly!
