We’re very pleased that our status as an accredited Investor in People has been confirmed at a recent review. Our processes for keeping colleagues at all levels informed about and involved in the development of the business was singled out for mention, especially since we are going through such a rapid period of growth.

As we develop our web site in the coming weeks we hope to have profiles of all Inscapes people available her on our web site - so watch this (In)Space!

It’s true: BIGGA is best

It was great to be asked to support the local branch of BIGGA which represents professional greenkeepers and groundsmen www.bigga.org.uk. This was their spring seminar. Our presentation went well today, although it was as nerve racking as ever  to ’sing for our supper’ in a formal presentation to such a knowledgeable audience.  It gave us the opportunity to explain all the changes that had occurred in the company and the reasons behind them, and also gave us the chance to showcase some of the great jobs we have had.

Andy Law of White Moss with whom we have a close working relationship gave an insight into rootzones and the sustainability of such products which was both interesting and thought provoking. www.whitemoss.co.uk.
John Griffiths of Poly bed gave a very interesting presentation into their innovative drainage material  www.forestgroupuk.co.uk

One of main aims of the day was to provide the chance to meet and chat and to catch up with friends old and new – and we certainly succeeded in doing that!

Darren Hutchings (Senior Landscaper) writes………

The RHS Spring Show in Cardiff was a success in many ways: the driving wind and rain failing to dampen the spirits of the 14,000 visitors that came to marvel at the shows many pavilions and marquees housing an array of wonderful plants and displays.

The Inscapes Environmental Garden was also a success, receiving many positive comments surrounding the conservation, biodiversity and ecology factors that the garden offered.  In an age when our green belt is disappearing to commercial and private housing sectors, it was appreciated that we built a garden that can promote these values and show that a completely British Native garden can look beautiful whilst providing habitats for our struggling wildlife.

The build went relatively smoothly and took us right up to the deadline.  As with any show gardens, there will always be obstacles to overcome and challenges to tax the mind, but all were successfully overcome, and we were awarded the RHS Silver Medal - one more for the company trophy room!

In speaking with the powers that be and the people who attended the Show, it appeared that the RHS judging standards were set relatively high this year to coincide with Chelsea RHS Show standards, therefore in retrospect we can take great pride in achieving Silver.

We have also received an invitation to display the Inscapes Environmental Garden at the BBC Gardeners World RHS at the Birmingham NEC in June, a decision has not yet been reached but we will keep you informed.
